About

The Archive Trust for Research in Mathematical Sciences & Philosophy is a UK registered charity (no. 1141862). Our purpose is to preserve recorded scientific and philosophical thought and make it freely available for research, teaching and the public.

This catalogue describes the Michael Wright Collection: more than 11,000 audio and video recordings of lectures, seminars and conference talks in mathematics, physics, cosmology and the philosophy of science, recorded from 1973 to the present day and continually added to — capturing many of the leading figures of the era, among them Sir Roger Penrose, Stephen Hawking, Sir Michael Atiyah, Edward Witten and F. W. Lawvere.

Using this catalogue. This is the Archive Trust's archival catalogue — a searchable index describing each recording. The recordings themselves, both audio and filmed, are played on the Archive Trust website, archivetrust.org, where digitised talks stream with synchronised transcripts and curated playlists. From any record here, the "listen" link opens the recording on the website. Recordings not yet published online can be requested by emailing contact@archmathsci.org.

Searching here matches titles and catalogue details; to search within the talks — the words actually spoken — use the full-transcript search on the website. Transcripts are generated automatically and may contain errors.

Get involved. This is a living archive, added to and enriched over time. If you can help identify a speaker or date, spot an error, or have material to contribute, please write to contact@archmathsci.org.
